Help with starting a club at school…any ideas?? this is impt?
I am a junior in high school and me and my friend(also a jr.) want to create a club at our school. We have a few actual worthwhile clubs like an environmental club but we want to start a drug awareness club.
Our town has a bad drug problem and if we can start a club to get ppl involved and show the school/ aware the kids about drug dangers, i thik we could actually start to help.
I am not sure what needs to be done to start a club, so if anyone has any ideas on what we could do in the club or has any revisions to our initial club idea I would greatly apprieciate it!
And also, how would I go about getting this club approved?
Do I need to talk to my principal or what?

I’d start by talking to your principal, but I’d wait until you have some initial ideas. He’ll be more likely to listen if he thinks you’ve thought it through.
You might want to throw alcohol into the mix if you’re considering drug awareness. Alcohol is easier to get your hands on in high school and the consequences can be just as devastating.
You could suggest bringing in parents (and their kids) who have held parties for their kids and have gotten busted – to talk about what happened and why it’s not a good idea.
You could also bring in people who have suffered from drug addictions. Consider asking the school to let you go on a field trip to the rehab center – it may shock some people into awareness.
Bring in a sheriff or police officer to talk about accidents that they’ve seen which drugs and alcohol have played a role. My city actually has a video, a pretty graphic one, showing dead people – some with body parts all over the road, looking like ground up hamburger – all because of impaired driving.
You could have a fun alcohol free party – where there are contests for those who come up with the most creative non-alcoholic drinks.
