Survey Question: Awareness or Cheap Stuff? What would you prefer?
If u were faced with two choices, either to attend an
environmental awareness program, or to benefit from a sale at an electrical appliances store, which would u choose?
A. Attend the environmental awarness program
B. Buy stuff at low prices.
C. I won’t go at all.
Please be honest!
I am conducting a survey for my school project so it would be helpful if you mention your educational level, experience, background and age. Thanks.
I am a recently retired scientist. I have been active in the environmental movement for over 40 years.
One of the big problems that I see with many so called environmental awareness programs is that much of the material is exaggeated and distorted to such an extent that it is often difficult to filter out the factual information from the nonsense.
I have attended several sessions at Stanford University in Palo Alto California that I thought were very good. If the session were of the quality that I have seen at Stanford University, then I would attend.
However one Stanford professor who I am very disappointed in is Paul Ehrlich, the author of the book “The Population Bomb” I read that book back in the 1970’s. I would put that book in the category of propaganda and fiction rather than a scientific text.
Fortunately, Stanford has a number of other professors who are far more solid scientifically than Paul Ehrlich. Even the best of schools have some professors who are failures. Paul Ehrlich is one of the rare failures at Stanford.
Unfortunatley most of the environmental programs that I have seen, especially those that are intended for members of the public who are not scientists are worthless and I would not waste my time.
